Revaluating my goals...

So, my original goal was to lose 150 lbs. I have never been that small as an adult. I'm trying to figure out what I would look like there, and I have some friends who I recently found out were about 150-160 and I thought they were so small. They are similar height to me as well. I think 149 might just be too small for my personal preference as far as aesthetics go. I kind of like being curvy, I'd like to be curvy and fit and I think I would just fall over dead if I went below a 38 DD, which I haven't been below since about 7th-8th grade. ha. ;)

When I see this pic of myself @ 190 lbs...

I just remember being SO happy with myself at that weight. At that time I wanted to lose 15 more lbs. I wasn't even active then, which I am now, I'm much healthier now, at 235 lbs than I was then, at 190 because of the irresponsible way that I lost it with a 'fad' diet and no exercise. The last time I was 175 lbs was in 7th grade I think. I was a size 14 and I think a 38 DD. I looked way too grown up for my own good, ha. But, I remember thinking how awful I looked (It could have been the bad perm.) and how bad about myself I felt. Now I feel like that is right where I want to be. 


I think I can be very healthy at 175 and I think I would LOVE the way I'd look. I mean I kind of love that pic at 190. haha. Not too shabby.... :P I also happen to think that Ashley Graham (lane bryant model below) looks like a GODDESS. Not that I look anything like her, ha, but it's a good goal. ;)




We have a kind of similar build, but she's a size 14 (If you've heard a 16, apparently that is a UK size 16 from what I've read.) Anyhow, I'm just revaluating, so that is my new goal. 64 lbs down, 60 lbs to go. I will have pretty much lost the weight of my sister who is around 125 lbs. ha. Ridiculous.

Have any of you switched your goals part-way through? If so, what was the reason?

  1. I have a super skinny sister too so we share that in common. I prefer curves over stick thin also (my bf agrees). Sadly, I have lost most of my boobs but I think I was always a pear so there really is nothing I can do about it. I love your shape. I wish I was an hourglass.

  2. I started at 266 in Dec 09, and my original goal was to weigh 143. (I basically looked at the BMI chart for my height and picked a number right in the middle of the "healthy" range). I've been running now for just over a year, and last month had my first annual checkup at the doc since losing weight (I'm at 160 now, -106#). I told the doc my goal and how I came to it, and she did a couple in-office tests and said my goal weight is too low; that my muscle mass is too "athletic" for the standard BMI chart to apply to me. HA! Me, athletic! It still makes me LMAO. I've never been athletic in my life, till now. She told me to shoot for 150. So, I've got 10# to go :) I think we all have to find our own bodies' happy weight - and it's not just physical. Like you've described, there are emotional components as well. We have to be able to live with ourselves!

  3. I changed my goals too ~ when I started, I thought I'd go to 175, then on Spark I said 160. But along the way, 150 felt right. Truly, I'll know when my body has reached where it wants to stay, and I'm not married to any number. 150 just feels like that's where it's going to be. I'm open to whatever.

    I fully support your new goals. It's gotta feel good to be closer to the maintenance phase too! I like curvy too.

    Shelly, for all the stupid fat I have on me, ha, I have a lot of muscle, my legs are pretty muscular, I think it might be very difficult for me to get to 150 without being too athletic looking. I did a body fat ratio thing and I'd have less fat than would be considered normal if I was that small.

I looked at this blog for the first time in two years the other day. I wanted to reference a post in another piece of writing.
