Kickin' back at kickback's.

So, as I've mentioned, I live in Pittsburgh, PA. We have a pinball arcade place here called Kickback pinball cafe. We've been meaning to get down there and today we finally did!  Luckily they had some food options that worked out for us. We both had a salad. mixed greens, nuts, seeds, goat cheese and a light truffle kind of dressing, it was so good!  We also had kale chips. That inspired me to come home and bust out the dehydrator and make kale chips of my own! I have made them before but they were kind of a failure. The first batch was too salty, the second batch had no flavor. This time I looked up a recipe for a cashew based vegan 'cheese' sauce, so as I type this they are dehydrating! This is a pic of our fridge after we got all of our veggies. Some things you see in there are green juices, almond milk, and all that green stuff on the top shelf of the fridge is Tupperware full of chopped veggies to make tossing them in a salad or munching on them throughout...

I have a Personal Improvement Plan. Setting goals...

There are some things in my life that were once priorities that have been put on the back burner. I feel like due to this medication it's pointless to try and lose since I can't seem to. But that is ridiculous because I need to be healthy whether I'm losing or not. So I need to get on track with the gf/vegan eats and exercise in a big way. (I've eaten dairy some lately and it's ADDICTIVE. No joke.)  So starting today, gf/vegan all the way. I need groceries, but I'll just eat tons of rice if I must just because I can really FEEL a difference in my body when I eat gluten. It aggravates the living hell out of my fibro, I've been feeling so inflamed lately that even just sitting here has been burning my legs and back. I need to exercise. I KNOW that it helps my fibro. Like my pain doc says, if you don't use it, you lose it with fibro. It's a vicious cycle. You lay down because you're in pain but in the long run laying around just causes more p...

My juicer came! (review)

I got my juicer today!  and I made deliciousness! Until I get more supplies tomorrow I just threw whatever I had in the house into it. this was apple, orange and strawberry. Fruit juices are a bit high calorie, so I'm going to mix them with low cal veggies starting tomorrow.  My review: Breville JE900 Juice Extractor After reading reviews for a few hours....okay, a few days! I decided on the Breville JE900, it was on sale, had free shipping, and was one of the highest rated not just on amazon, but on juicer review websites as well. So far I love it, it's fast, it's fairly simple to put together once you read the directions. (I had some stuff on upside down at first. But I'm also ridiculous.) The directions are pics with instructions so it's easy to get together. It juices fast, but let me warn you, to quote my boyfriend joey, "It sounds like a jet engine", which it does. I live in an apartment with a baby downstairs and there is no way they would ...

The Benefits of juicing?

So, the other day I decided to buy a juicer. I read reviews for hours looking for the best quality for a reasonable price. I also read a bunch of FAQ's about the benefits of juicing, and I found this article on juicing for weight loss today that sounds promising:  Juicing for weight loss Anyhow, this is the juicer I decided on: Breville JE900 Juice Fountain Professional Juice Extractor I'm very interested in this, and I hope it works out, I'm trying to get more raw foods in my diet and I hope this helps.  Do any of you juice? What kind of juicer do you have and do you like it?  What have your experiences been with juicing and your health?

The Happy Healthy Couple....16 years and going strong!

Well, today was our anniv! Joey and I have been together for 16 years, and to the person who basically asked "HOW?!" in regards to my age, ha, I'm 31!!!!! haha. We have been together since I was 15 and he was 14. :D We had a fabulous day! I woke up and made us breakfast. I made banana, strawberry, kiwi and protein powder smoothies with a bit of Silk and vanilla extract. The bananas were frozen so it was absolutely amazing! Healthy anniversary breakfast smoothies! We also each had a quarter cup of assorted raw nuts...Have I mentioned how much I love my ninja yet? In case I haven't... FABULOUS! We let our stomach's settle by watching a bit of How I Met Your Mother that we needed to catch up on and then we exercised! I did the elliptical for about 5 mins, then I did some kinect your shape cardio, three sessions with the 'personal trainer'. That was 20 mins, and I ended it with another 5 mins on the elliptical. Joey did the kinect while I elliptical...

Another 75% raw week!

So, maybe a month ago I did a week where I ate about 75% raw food. I would have one cooked meal a day and then fruit/nuts/silk/silk protein shake for breakfast and then maybe a big salad, with some veggies or nuts for a snack. The week I did that it really jump started my weight loss, and I felt kind of great. So, I've decided to try and do it once a month. I figure it'll give my body something new and different to work on breaking down. Can't be bad. So, my bf Joey starting Tuesday is on vaca all week/weekend and it's our 16 year anniv on March 9th. So, when I ordered groceries to be delivered today, I ordered extra since he'll be eating here. (he's a cook and often eats most meals at work.) He's decided to do the mostly raw week with me, we're starting today! Groceries just came this morning and this is our fridge: Stocked with mostly veggies For anyone who is curious, yes, that is a salad keeper from  Bed Bath and Beyond  and yes, those are ...
