Vegan restaurants not so vegan?

So I read this article today, found here, about vegan restaurants serving animal products in their food.

This is upsetting seeing as how joey and I would like to open a vegan restaurant one day. I hate for businesses to cause the general public to not have faith in that type of service/product. After the vegnews debacle that just happened (info here) it is very upsetting.

The other thing I noticed though was that there are 20 vegan restaurants in L.A. WOW. Insanity. Pittsburgh is a little behind, but we're hoping to help change that someday. We're making a 5 year plan.

CONFESSION: I have't exercised for the last THREE days. I've been miserable, have't been feeling well. I had a tooth infection, it tends to get pretty bad (it's cracked and broken and a wisdom tooth and I need to get it fixed  asap.) It gets infected off and on, usually clears up, sometimes requires antibiotics. It's been a long time, but I finally have money to get it fixed, so I'll be looking into that real soon. Anyhow, the infection tends to make me super weak, like, holding my mascara is impossible cuz it feels so heavy type of weak.

I've also had migraines the last few days and have been napping and then going to bed really early to escape them. I take a migraine med, maxalt, which has been making me feel a bit on edge, it's causing some mood  issues I think, and I've just been miserable.

I feel better today. Tooth doesn't  hurt, so far my head doesn't hurt. I have to start getting ready for work in a min here, but when I get home I will do my c25k day that I missed. I feel terrible having missed so much this week, but man have I felt awful.

No excuses, tonight, I exercise!

Don't forget to enter my contest!

  1. I hope you start to feel better soon. I have tooth issue going on as well, I need a crown done.

Don't feel bad about not exercising, your body needed time to heal itself.

  2. I have the privilege of visiting two of those 20 vegan restaurants in LA. I really loved them. The food was packed with flavor and so filling.

I am sorry for your tooth issues. But know how you feel. I had been in great paid and fighting with my broken wisdom tooth for months and just had it removed this weekend. Not pleasant, but worth being pain free when I am all healed up.

  3. sweet pea, thanks, I need a crown as well as a wisdom tooth removed, but the wisdom tooth is a priority.

135: That's awesome! Also, glad you got the tooth taken care of. I'm scared, how long will it take to feel better do you think? I don't currently have PAIN because it's been SO long the nerve is just dead, but it does often get infected and makes me really sick and weak and fevery with cold chills. My doc fears for me but I just don't have the money and no dental. Hope to get it soon, picking up extra hours at work and saving some money and going to a sliding scale clinic.

    Thanks for the comments!

How Intuitive eating (did not) work for me

So I have spent roughly the last year and a half or more trying to lose weight by eating intuitively. I'm not really great at it. I have lost 30 lbs in a year and a half, it's moving at such a snails pace that I have finally decided that the only thing that works for me is tracking, and even though in my head I know I won't possibly do it forever, I have to go back to it.

So, Joey and I are tracking again, so far so good. It's only been a few days, but it at least hasn't been a struggle. I figure we will stay where we are calorie wise and after about a month and hopefully some loss (not being too focused on the scale though, it's been my downfall in the past) we can reduce our calories a little bit at a time.

I know this is the right thing to do, but I feel kind of down that I did so poorly with intuitive eating. Then again I probably wouldn't be fat if I were good at that sort of thing. :P Here's to being "On Plan." :D

Also, my job has finall…

I Was a Fat Bride

Our wedding pictures are the first thing you see when you walk into our home.

Joey and I have been together for over 22 years. We've both gained and lost a lot of weight over the course of our relationship. Then we regained, and re-lost, you know how it goes. We got married on our 19 year anniversary, which is in March.  We had decided to get married just four months prior. So after what our friends teased was a 'brief 19 year courtship", we decided to just go ahead and do it. I know there are a million blogs and articles about losing weight for your wedding. This is not one of them. I had four months to lose weight. I don't really even remember what was going on, but I had NO desire to diet or attempt to lose weight and so I just...didn't. Joey lost a bit of weight so he could wear that fancy vest. I appreciate the effort, he looked handsome in it. :)

We thought we would never get married. We didn't see the point, we kind of still don't, and luckily, be…

Fluvia Lacerda....or, life's short, have fun.

So I just read this post about 'letting it all hang out' in the summer, by Fluvia Lacerda, a Brazilian plus size model. She. Is. Gorgeous.

First, let me say, my 'thinspiration' pics are always plus size models. I have no desire to be skinny. I want to ROCK my curves.

Anyhow, this is what the lovely Fluvia Lacerda looks like:

So she writes this blog post about how you should accept your fat body and don't care about the judgements from other people, etc, etc. I'm thinking to myself, she looks amazing, who is judging her? Then I google her and find a 'celebrity weight gain' site that is talking all kinds of smack on her 'chunky arms' and her 'expanding waistline'. I want to cry. Seriously. If you can look like THAT and still get insulted by these people (who are the equivilant to me, of frat boys yelling "fat bitch" at me from their porch) then I just hate this world.
I ASPIRE to be as 'fat' and 'chunky' as Fluvia!…
