Random Randomness? Yes plz!

Lately I've been told by several people how positive I am. I find this to be refreshing, since I used to be such a 'debbie downer'. I used to be angry at the world and was the very angsty-est of teens.

Does it get more angsty than this!?

So much in my life is changing right now. I'm becoming more independent, more responsible, more organized, more capable at work, everything seems to be falling into place. My bf and I are making a 5 year plan, we're focusing on the future, which I'm proud of joey for, because he NEVER has interest in what 'will be' or 'someday' or anything like that.

In other news, I hit 237 today. When I hit 229 lbs I will officially have lost more than I ever have before in my life. (previous record = 70 lbs, in a totally unhealthy fashion).

I'm feeling great. I do 10 miles on my bike 2-3 days a week, I am also doing interval training on the other days, c25k only on a stationary recumbent. Food is getting easier and easier to deal with. I got a gift of gluten free truffles from my friend who does vegan catering here in Pittsburgh (check her out at: Iron Betty Sweets ), she's amazing but I could have killed her for bringing that devil's chocolate into my house. hehe, it's okay though, I shared with joey and a friend and managed to not gobble down the entire box myself. :) Although they were so amazing that just one or two was satisfying, no need to gorge they were so sweet and yummay. :) Actually, here is a pic for your viewing pleasure:

Check out her other stuff at

I just want to give a little shout out here to it's a newish website, it's growing though and has lots of good info, check out the forums and post a bit. The woman who runs it is from here! (Pittsburgh) so that is extra special good times.

My juicer should be here by Friday. I might be reviewing the Ninja later tonight though, I've been wanting to take some pics of it in action to give a good idea of what it can do. I know a lot of people want the vitamix, but even refurbished it's kind of pricey (okay, more than kind of), and I find the ninja to be a fabulous inexpensive alternative.  Will be sure to write more later about that!

Don't forget to enter my contest!

  1. I think that's the best compliment when people notice the inside changing and not just the physical changes :) It means you are on a sustainable journey not one that's making you miserable and cranky. I was told "I looked happier" and that made me happy.

Congratulations on how well you are doing! I can't wait to hear how the juicing goes.

  2. safire, very true, I never thought of it that way! :)

  3. What a wonderful blog! I'm so happy for you for all your progress!

I had angsty photos like that too. Hid behind the gothy/heavy metal look for years. I don't think I kept any though.

Keep up your beautiful new lifestyle. It obviously is perfect for you!

How Intuitive eating (did not) work for me

So I have spent roughly the last year and a half or more trying to lose weight by eating intuitively. I'm not really great at it. I have lost 30 lbs in a year and a half, it's moving at such a snails pace that I have finally decided that the only thing that works for me is tracking, and even though in my head I know I won't possibly do it forever, I have to go back to it.

So, Joey and I are tracking again, so far so good. It's only been a few days, but it at least hasn't been a struggle. I figure we will stay where we are calorie wise and after about a month and hopefully some loss (not being too focused on the scale though, it's been my downfall in the past) we can reduce our calories a little bit at a time.

I know this is the right thing to do, but I feel kind of down that I did so poorly with intuitive eating. Then again I probably wouldn't be fat if I were good at that sort of thing. :P Here's to being "On Plan." :D

Also, my job has finall…

I Was a Fat Bride

Our wedding pictures are the first thing you see when you walk into our home.

Joey and I have been together for over 22 years. We've both gained and lost a lot of weight over the course of our relationship. Then we regained, and re-lost, you know how it goes. We got married on our 19 year anniversary, which is in March.  We had decided to get married just four months prior. So after what our friends teased was a 'brief 19 year courtship", we decided to just go ahead and do it. I know there are a million blogs and articles about losing weight for your wedding. This is not one of them. I had four months to lose weight. I don't really even remember what was going on, but I had NO desire to diet or attempt to lose weight and so I just...didn't. Joey lost a bit of weight so he could wear that fancy vest. I appreciate the effort, he looked handsome in it. :)

We thought we would never get married. We didn't see the point, we kind of still don't, and luckily, be…

Fluvia Lacerda....or, life's short, have fun.

So I just read this post about 'letting it all hang out' in the summer, by Fluvia Lacerda, a Brazilian plus size model. She. Is. Gorgeous.

First, let me say, my 'thinspiration' pics are always plus size models. I have no desire to be skinny. I want to ROCK my curves.

Anyhow, this is what the lovely Fluvia Lacerda looks like:

So she writes this blog post about how you should accept your fat body and don't care about the judgements from other people, etc, etc. I'm thinking to myself, she looks amazing, who is judging her? Then I google her and find a 'celebrity weight gain' site that is talking all kinds of smack on her 'chunky arms' and her 'expanding waistline'. I want to cry. Seriously. If you can look like THAT and still get insulted by these people (who are the equivilant to me, of frat boys yelling "fat bitch" at me from their porch) then I just hate this world.
I ASPIRE to be as 'fat' and 'chunky' as Fluvia!…
