My juicer came! (review)

I got my juicer today!  and I made deliciousness! Until I get more supplies tomorrow I just threw whatever I had in the house into it. this was apple, orange and strawberry. Fruit juices are a bit high calorie, so I'm going to mix them with low cal veggies starting tomorrow.  My review: Breville JE900 Juice Extractor After reading reviews for a few hours....okay, a few days! I decided on the Breville JE900, it was on sale, had free shipping, and was one of the highest rated not just on amazon, but on juicer review websites as well. So far I love it, it's fast, it's fairly simple to put together once you read the directions. (I had some stuff on upside down at first. But I'm also ridiculous.) The directions are pics with instructions so it's easy to get together. It juices fast, but let me warn you, to quote my boyfriend joey, "It sounds like a jet engine", which it does. I live in an apartment with a baby downstairs and there is no way they would ...

A&E Heavy review, Ashley and Sharon

So I'm getting a lot of hits by people searching for heavy reviews. I only had a chance to review the premiere and it's been a few since then but one in particular was my favorite and I just had to talk about it. So, I'm pretty sure the episode with Ashley and Sharon was episode #3. Ashley and Sharon, episode # 3 trailer After the previous episode which was very difficult to watch for me, cuz I'm not really into dramatic moments and watching people's personal breakdowns, (I prefer personal triumphs.) this episode was really fantastic. Ashley had a drinking problem, was living with her alcoholic dad, and Sharon's son who was bipolar had committed suicide less than a year earlier. She said he had wanted her to be healthy and it seemed everything changed for the better for her when she decided that her loss/health would be in his memory. Her story was beautiful and her commitment, impressive. Here is Sharon, before and after: It truly felt like you were w...

Heavy on A&E -- Review of premiere

So, the new A&E show,  Heavy  premiered on Jan 17th and the weight loss forums have been pretty chatty about it.  Basically it's a show about morbidly obese people who go to this intervention type camp. It's actually kind of gorgeous and I wouldnt' mind visiting. ;)  View the ad:  I honestly wasn't sure how I would feel about it, because I generally dislike weight loss TV shows and 'reality TV' in general. I feel that they are exploitative. A way for thin people to sit on their couches and poke fun at others from the comfort of their home. In general I find reality shows to be similar to circus freak shows. In my opinion The Biggest Loser might as well start filming under the big top: From Tod Browning's  Freaks :  To The Biggest Loser:  I understand that some people are motivated by this show, but I feel it sets most people up for failure along the road to wellness. The exploitation is pretty clear in the differe...
